Shippers for the most part are reluctant to change. If they are satisfied with a particular broker or carrier they tend to remain with those providers. So excellent brokers understand that selling is hard business and they are passionate about sales. Pick up the latest "sales" best seller and they all will provide numerous sales tips. Developing relationships and providing superior service (taking care of customers) are two key fundamentals to effective sales. Developing relationships goes back to dealing with people. Successful relationships allow the excellent broker to service the shipper as well as sell their freight to the carrier.
